Emergency Clinic vs 24 Hour Clinic

Many clients wonder what the difference is between a regular clinic that is open 24 hours a day and a true Emergency Clinic.

Unlike a regular clinic offering 24-hour service, the Huronia VEC is set up solely for emergency medicine and surgery. There is at least one Veterinarian and Registered Veterinary Technician on the premises during our business hours so you can rest assured that your pet is in good hands and will not be left unsupervised overnight. We are equipped for treating and monitoring critical cases and are able to provide services often not available at a regular veterinary practice, like blood transfusions, oxygen therapy, and after-hours surgery. Your pet will be transferred back to your regular veterinarian the following business day to carry on with their care, and in most cases, they will already know to expect you as we send complete medical records upon your pet’s discharge.

We do not provide preventive care, such as vaccinations, so you won’t feel pressured to perform procedures unrelated to your pet’s current critical needs.

Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic is proud to be an Accredited Emergency Practice with the College of Veterinarians of Ontario
